Media Credential Information

NOTE: This information is intended for credentialed members of the media

All credentialed media members are invited to attend the Joint Service Open House. The following information details the dates, times, parking procedures and rules you are expected to follow while at Andrews AFB.

Questions regarding the Joint Service Open House should be directed to the 316 Wing Public Affairs office (Media Division) at (301) 981-5412 or e-mail us at: 316th Wing Public Affairs.

To facilitate the working press, a Joint Information Bureau (JIB) will operate in Hangar 4 with Navy, Army, Air Force, Marine and Coast Guard public affairs professionals available to answer questions, assist you with stories and photo opportunities. JIB telephone numbers will be available in May. In addition, access credentials and press kits will be distributed to credential media members. Only those with valid identification will be allowed access.

Attention freelancers: While we appreciate your interest in the 2008 Joint Service Open House, we are unable to support freelance photographers and journalists who have not been retained by recognized media organizations to cover the event. However, you are more than welcome to attend the event as a member of the general public.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 



Media Escort and Parking

Friday, May 16 Media Day (1 p.m. - 5 p.m.)

Photo/interview opportunities are scheduled between 1 and 5 p.m. Media members must enter the Virginia Gate (directions below). Vehicles and equipment will be searched. Parking will be located near the Joint Information Bureau. Several media opportunities including the Navy Blue Angels (featured act) and other attractions will be available for photos/interviews. If interested in arriving prior to 1p.m., please contact the JIB.

Friday, Saturday & Sunday

Public Affairs Representatives will escort arriving media from the Virginia Gate after vehicles and equipment are searched.

You will park at the golf course and ride the shuttle van to the JIB.

Escorts will begin each day at 8:00 a.m. and run continuously throughout each day. No additional visitors are allowed to accompany media members.

Satellite Trucks

Thursday, May 15 Media Day (1 p.m. - 5 p.m.)

Satellite trucks must arrive at the Virginia Gate (see directions below) after 1 p.m. Vehicles and equipment will be searched. Public Affairs representatives will escort satellite trucks to the flight line for set-up.

Friday, Saturday & Sunday, May 16th - 18th

Satellite trucks need to arrive at the Virginia Gate between 5:30-6 a.m. where vehicles and equipment will be searched. Public Affairs representatives will escort the satellite trucks to the flight line. Parking on flight line will be suspended at 8 a.m.

Directions to Virginia Gate

To reach the Virginia Gate take Branch Avenue (Highway 5) toward Waldorf, MD (Exit 7A off of I-495/I-95, Capital Beltway). Take the SECOND Andrews AFB exit (Coventry Way-Clinton-Andrews AFB). Turn left at the stoplight. Turn right at the T-intersection onto Old Alex Ferry Road. The Virginia Gate will be approximately ½ mile up the road on the left.

Joint Service Open House Rules

  • Display your JSOH 08 Media badge at all times.

  • Please DO NOT SHOOT the top of buildings.

  • In the event of an emergency DO NOT SHOOT rescue procedures.

  • Satellite Trucks and other vehicles parked on the flight line must remain parked for the entire day. Those leaving before the air show is over will not be permitted back on the flight line.

  • In the event of an emergency, you should report immediately to the JIB for further instructions.
